abstract
The Graphics Processor Unit (GPUs) attend the graphical computers problems, but also can solve phenomena presented in engineering applied, research and industry too. In this work it is discussed the main features that make GPUs attractive to solve engineering computational problems, and in our point of view, we present the implementation process in order to verify the GPU feasibility applied to the resolution process into mechanical system implemented in railways. Several analytical models are proposed for mechanical devices, each of them with different implementation problems, over two programming environments that allowing to execute in a traditional form, using a computer main processor, and applying the GPU multiple processors. The analysis of computation times, under different conditions, determines the strengths and weaknesses applying the new technology (using GPU), with respect to conventional computers.
