abstract

  • The study analyzes the special collections of archives of feminist organizations accessible in digital repositories, in the libraries of some countries, and is compared with the situation of these specific collections in the Spanish university libraries. Unlike the cases studied in Europe and the United States, in the case of Spain the private funds of feminist organizations have not been deposited on a regular basis in academic libraries, as is the case abroad. The result of the Spanish case is not very encouraging, glimpsing the possibility of taking advantage of university structures to integrate the archives of feminism as special collections in digital repositories of academic libraries, as happens in American universities and in European countries. For this, university policies should be developed that favor the integration of these special collections, to preserve the cultural heritage of women, associated with digitization projects and provision in digital repositories.
