La III duquesa de Béjar: discriminación estamental versus discriminación sexual = The III Duchess of Bejar: Statal discrimination versus sexual discrimination

Este trabajo pretende poner de manifiesto una comparación entre dos de las más grandes discriminaciones que se daban en la jerarquizada sociedad española del Antiguo Régimen. A través del caso de la III duquesa de Béjar, doña Teresa de Zúñiga, podemos ver cómo por un lado actuaba su posición dominante como señora titular de sus estados y, por otro, cómo estaba también sujeta a su condición de mujer en un mundo de mayoritario protagonismo masculino. La observación del cruce entre estas dos discriminaciones, la estamental y la sexual, nos permite acercarnos un poco más a la forma de pensar, sentir y actuar en el complejo mecanismo del régimen señorial. = This paper aims to show a comparison between two of the greatest discriminations that occurred in the hierarchical Spanish society of the Ancien Ré-gime. Through the case of the III duchess of Béjar, doña Teresa de Zúñiga, we can see how, on the one hand, her dominant position as a lady holder of her estates and, on the other, how she was also subject to her condition as a woman in a world of mostly male protagonism. The observation of the intersection between these two forms of discrimination, the statal and the sexual, allows us to get a little closer to the way of thinking, feeling and acting in the complex mechanism of the manorial regime.
