Introduction. The central point is the identification and assessment of the job opportunities in Information Science based on the competences in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as well as on the analysis of the attributions, knowledges, and skills that categorize the jobs in digital environments. Method. The method of textual analysis of these ads is divided in two distinct phases, beginning with the search, selection, categorization, and analysis of the content of the ads, and proceeding then to the interpretation of the job requisites regarding the digital qualification of the professionals. Analysis. Our objective is to assess the contents related to the digital transformation mentioned in online job ads for information professionals in Brazil. Results. The results are divided in accordance with the names given to the professions in the job ads. Based on the categories of archivist, librarian-documentalist, and information scientist we explain how the digital transformation affects the specific denominations of these professions, taking into account the impact of the ICT in the activities these professionals carry out, the proposed salaries, and the most notable characteristics of the resulting jobs. Conclusions. From this analysis we conclude that the recognition of information professionals, both professional and in terms of income, is the better the more qualified they are to comply with digital activities. The search for competences related to the ICT is essential in modern professional profiles, both in terms of the more conventional functions and of those demanded by digital society and economy.
