abstract

  • The main aim of this research project is to discuss how the social dimension of Europe both from the supranational and national levels has been affected by the latest socio-economic adjustments and how to re-construct and advance the EU social model through social dialogue. The research team will examine the effects of labour and social reforms in industrial relations at Member States level - in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Poland, Hungary and France- and what has been the involvement of the social partners in those reforms. The proposed research project will also investigate the role of the social parbrers, if any, in the reforms of collective bargaining systems and labour protection legislation occurring in several EU Member States and will address to what extent those reforms are efficient in achieving the objectives that they are aiming to: namely, enhanced employability, reduced labour market segmentation, and flexibility.
