abstract

  • Ciudadanos is a new Spanish political party that, in the last two years, has won a position as an important force in Parliament. Among the distinctive characteristics of its discourse, the use of the neutral stands out, which the party uses to distance itself from old-style politics. This article analyzes the discursive strategy of Ciudadanos from its founding up through the present day, and uncovers the operations of ideological camouflage that it uses to construct its apparent neutrality. In this way, the article seeks to recover the spirit of the Barthesian mythological analyses, dedicated to unmasking contemporary myths
