abstract

  • Spain is the second largest producer of PM (powder metallurgy) products in the EU, behind Germany. In traditional PM production, Spain has a number of specialized, highly productive plants embracing specialty parts, shock absorbers, synchronizing hubs, and bushings. Other Spanish PM products are specialty powders and hardmetals. In terms of production, AMES is the most important PM company in Spain, with headquarters close to Barcelona. The second PM plant in Spain and one of the oldest in Europe, the company was founded in 1951 and is a fully independent company, both financially and technologically. Most of the AMES facilities are dedicated to the manufacture of structural components: mechanical and hydraulic parts, gears and stainless steel parts. PMG Asturias Powder Metal is an innovative concept designed to produce high-volume components that meet strict quality requirements. Stadler, S.A., located in northern Spain since 1969, is dedicated to the manufacture of sintered-metal parts. Eighty-five pecent of their products are for export.
